Frequently Asked Questions
How does boat shipping work?
We dispatch a licensed carrier with a boat trailer suited to your vessel's size and weight. The boat is loaded at your home, marina, or storage facility and delivered to the destination address, marina, or boatyard. For large boats, we arrange permits and route surveys as needed.
How much does boat shipping cost?
Boat shipping costs $300–$800 for shorter hauls (under 500 miles) and $900–$2,500 for cross-country routes, depending on boat size, weight, beam width, and whether the vessel requires oversize permits. Jet skis and kayaks are significantly cheaper. Call (216) 412-4411 for a firm quote.
Do you ship sailboats with the mast still up?
No — masts must be removed and secured for over-road transport. We coordinate with you or your marina to arrange mast removal before pickup. Masts typically travel strapped alongside the hull or in a separate tube.
Can you ship my boat on a cradle or stand?
Yes. Many sailboats and larger powerboats travel on cradles. We confirm cradle compatibility and weight distribution before pickup. If you need a cradle built, we can refer you to a local marine supplier.
Do I need permits to ship a wide pontoon boat?
Boats over 8.5 ft wide require oversize/overwidth permits in most states. We handle all permit procurement and route planning for oversized loads. No extra work on your end — just let us know the beam measurement.
How long does boat shipping take?
Same as auto transport — 3–7 days for regional moves, 7–14 days coast-to-coast. Expedited boat transport is available on most routes at a premium. For large vessels requiring pilot cars, transit time may be slightly longer.
Can you ship a jet ski or kayak?
Yes. Personal watercraft, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards are some of the easiest items to ship. They travel on enclosed flatbeds or with a car on an enclosed trailer. Prices start around $199–$399 depending on distance.
Is my boat insured during transport?
Carriers in our network carry cargo insurance. However, marine-specific hull damage coverage varies. We recommend verifying your boat's own marine insurance policy covers over-road transport, as carrier liability is capped per standard freight rates.

Carrier Matching from Our Vetted Network
We dispatch your shipment to a carrier in our vetted network — every one with active FMCSA authority, current insurance, and a documented track record. You see the carrier's info before booking is final.
Pickup Scheduling & Bill of Lading
We coordinate a pickup window with you and the driver. At pickup, the driver completes a Bill of Lading with photo documentation of the vehicle's exact condition — protecting both sides.
Door-to-Door Transport with Tracking
Your vehicle moves directly to its destination — no terminal stops. GPS tracking and direct contact with the driver throughout transit, with progress updates along the route.
Delivery & Joint Inspection
The driver calls 1–2 hours before arrival. You and the driver inspect the vehicle together against the original Bill of Lading photos, sign off, and you take the keys. Payment is due at delivery.
