Frequently Asked Questions

What types of heavy equipment do you ship?

We transport all types: farm tractors, combines, excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, cranes, telehandlers, graders, log loaders, and more. If it's on wheels or tracks, we can move it.

What trailer types do you use for heavy equipment?

We use lowboy trailers for tall equipment (excavators, large dozers), step-deck/drop-deck trailers for medium height machinery, and standard flatbed trailers for skid steers and compact equipment. The right trailer is matched to your equipment's dimensions and weight.

How much does heavy equipment shipping cost?

Heavy equipment shipping starts around $800–$1,500 for under 500 miles and $2,000–$5,000+ for cross-country moves. Price depends on weight, dimensions, whether oversize permits are needed, and whether pilot cars are required. We provide firm all-inclusive quotes.

Do you handle oversize permits and pilot cars?

Yes. We handle all oversize/overweight permit procurement in every state along the route. For loads exceeding state width, height, or weight limits, we coordinate pilot cars and — where required — police escorts. All permit costs are included in your quote.

Do I need to drain fluids before shipping heavy equipment?

Equipment should have fuel at 1/4 tank or less. Hydraulic fluid, engine oil, and coolant should remain in place — do not drain these. Remove or secure any loose attachments (buckets, blades, forks). Disconnect batteries if shipping internationally.

How long does heavy equipment shipping take?

Regional hauls (under 500 miles) typically take 3–7 days. Cross-country routes are 7–14 days. Oversize loads with permit routing can take 10–21 days. Expedited heavy haul is available with dedicated transport for premium.

Can you ship a tractor that doesn't run?

Yes. Non-running equipment is common — we use winches and specialized loading equipment to get inoperable machinery onto the trailer. Disclose the condition when booking so we dispatch the right carrier.

How is heavy equipment secured during transport?

Equipment is chained down to the trailer deck using DOT-compliant chain binders with corner protectors to prevent paint damage. Tracks and tires are secured with appropriate blocking. Our carriers follow all FMCSA securement regulations for heavy loads.
